It has been so much fun to watch this adorable Family grow for the last 3 years now. I was so excited when Isabel called to schedule another fun photo shoot of Eliab who just turned 3 years old and gets cuter and cuter every year! We went to the Old Poway Park in Poway for the photo session. It was the perfect place with perfect weather that day. Here's a few of my favorite shots of Eliab with his mommy and daddy at the park.

Our Little Sunshine Girl:: Rory "Roo"

Paisley & Cesar Engagement Session :: Sea Port Village & The Gaslamp

I met Paisley and Cesar for the first time just minutes before we began the Engagement Photo Session at Sea Port Village and The Gaslamp Quarter. But you would never know because it was as if we had been friends out having fun again downtown. They are an adorable couple and obviously very much in Love, and more than that they are the Best of Friends which I think is just as important in any relationship. Paisley mentioned she wanted to have their photo session somewhere unique and different which I was all up for. I think we picked the perfect place for their Engagement shoot. Last but by no means least.... Ryder Dawes Winebarger finally makes his debut!

Eric and Alena, Ryder's mommy and daddy couldn't be any more excited to finally have their little boy in their arms! After a long (an understatement) labor and then at the end a C-Section, this beautiful new family is enjoying just being together at last!! Ryder was born September 13, just a few days after Bear (born during the great Blackout on September 8) and Evie (born on 9/11). It's not often you have 3 friends who are pregnant and all due within a couple of weeks of each other. Congratulations to all the new "Mommy's and Daddy's"! Here are a few of my favs of Ryder, just 1 day old.

It was another beautiful day in San Diego, and what a perfect time to visit the world famous Balboa Park with some good friends, Miriam and Tim and might I add the 4-legged "kidlings", Chivas and Wolfgang. There are a couple of my favorite spots to photograph in, The Zoro Garden and the Lily Garden and Botanical Building. We actually found a few more spots that I am sure I will revisit again soon! A Wedding Dream Come True ~ Krystal & Casey

To watch two people in love finally come together as one is a always a beautiful occasion. But in this case it was even more so because Casey was just a young boy when I first met him, and to watch him grow into the young man that he is today and be there to see him marry the love of his life Krystal was so very touching and amazing. I also had the pleasure to meet Krystal as a bridesmaid for a wedding I did for other friends, Candra and Brad. These two couldn't be any more perfect for each other! After a beautiful ceremony, we were off to the world famous Balboa Park with the wedding party and then finished off the night at the Crystal Ballroom for the reception. Here are just a few moments of the day...

Road trip to Yosemite with Kiana, my niece, and McGoo my silly cat!

I have been asked many times what I do for fun... Anything that involves my camera!! Yosemite has always been one of the places I would like to visit, and I have to say I have been bitten by the Yosemite bug for sure! My brother Greg lives in Fresno which is an hour's drive from Yosemite, so it was a no brainer that I would have to do a combination trip. We are both huge camera buffs, so it's really fun to do things like this together. My niece Kiana decided to come along at the last minute and boy was I glad she did! I had a road trip buddy and a "model" for the weekend! Of course, my cat McGoo came along as well! My brother's little dog Kianti came with us to Yosemite. Here's a few of my favs of my weekend trip...

Right after these shots of the overlook, it started snowing and the weather turned. Only a few hours at Yosemite and we had to leave :( I am planning another visit in early May, so stay tuned!

An Oasis in the Desert! Our hike at Borrego Springs Canyon Trail

One of my favorite things in the world is photographing flowers, especially in the wild! With all the rains we had this past Winter, I knew if would be a really great opportunity to find Wildflowers in the Desert. I was trying to schedule a great location to mark my great niece's 6th month with Krystal and Brian, Rory's mommy and daddy :). Brian loves to hike and of course Krystal and I also love the desert flowers, so we decided to hike the Borrego Springs Canyon trail and take advantage to the abundant wildflowers that were in full bloom. The weather could not have been any better that weekend! It was in the mid 60s which is perfect for hiking, especially with a baby on board. Alex also came along to enjoy the day! Here are a few of my favs of the day....Enjoy!

I was my desk at work (RCP Block & Brick) and I got a text from Brian and Krystal who just happened to be at the Safari Park (Wild Animal Park) in Escondido. I have to say that growing up, I didn't have the luxury of a mentor or anyone that I could look to and ask for advice and help on this photographic journey. There was no internet, no social networking whatsoever. For that reason, when I meet anyone with an interest in Photography, I always try and do what I can to help them out any way I can. So when a friend of mine, Sofia, asked to borrow a camera for her class until her new camera came in, it was a no brainer. I was pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful card with a bunch of Tulips along with the loaner camera on my doorstep. Tulips are definitely on my list of all time favorite flowers!! Here's a few of my favs I took...

Baby Hippo at the Zoo and Good Friends at Balboa Park, A perfect day!

Every so often I have a "Carpe Diem" kind of feeling and I am compelled to run with it! I had a couple of lenses that I had rented for a Wedding earlier in the week and I made plans with a good friend of mine to meet at Balboa Park that day to take some photos before I had to send them back. (Borrow Lenses, checkem out!) When I heard of the new baby Hippo that was born at the Zoo, I just HAD to go there first! I was there as soon as the park opened to make sure I had a good spot to hopefully get a few pictures of this amazing new baby. Of course, I get there and find out that Mom and 2 day old Baby (who is hiding behind mom) are napping. So I play the waiting game. I am a pretty patient person by nature, so this really didn't dampen my enthusiasm too much. One and a half hours later, finally!!! Some movement! Patience pays off! Here's a few cute photos of the new Baby and also a few more of one of my favs, the Tiger just up the trail, and then a couple of the Flamingos...

My next stop of the day? The Japanese Gardens at Balboa Park. I have been wanting to go and see this garden for the longest time. I have also been wanting to meet up with my good friend Caroline and her son Skye is in now 11 and take some photos of them again. One of the lenses I rented was the Canon EF 15mm Fisheye. This was a fun lense to use as you will see!

Sivlang & Florian ~ Engagement Photos at Balboa Park

Sivlang and Florian have to be one of my most intriguing couples for several reasons. I met them both for the first time when we met to have their Engagement photos taken at one of my favorite places in San Diego. Balboa Park! We had been corresponding by phone and email until then and I was really anxious to find out what they looked like. What a cute and adorable couple!! We really had a great time running all over the park. I am half Chinese/ half Caucasian and I find it very interesting to find out what nationalities others are as well. Sivlang is Cambodian/Chinese and Florian is French/Italian. Is that a great combination or what!!?? In just 2 weeks they will get married at the Ponte Winery in Temecula. Until then, here are a few of my favorite photos that I took at Balboa Park.

Farewell to 2 Amazing Friends...

Whether it's expected or if it comes suddenly as it did with the loss of 2 dear friends this month, it's never easy to say good bye regardless of the circumstances. What these two dear friends had in common was the love and admiration of so many family and friends that surrounded them and their selfless love and compassion for all whom they knew.

John "Bub" Harris

Nov 15, 1926 - Dec 2, 2010

After the memorial service attended by about 500, friends and family met together at the Julia Leffreing House, in Rancho SD

John Harris was a dear friend, husband, father, and grandfather. I so feel for their families, especially our dear Valerie who was his best friend and wife for almost 60 years. Together they had 4 children, 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. John's memorial service was on December 18, just one day after what would have been their 60th Wedding Anniversary. John always brought a smile to your face and heart. He was known for his humor and sincere friendship to all whom he knew. He always told the best stories and experiences, and for that he will be dearly missed. Earlier this year, I had recorded John playing and laughing with his great granddaughter Piper when they came to visit. Here is a few pictures I took with the audio I recorded.

Alicia Aguirre

March 28, 1939 to December 15, 2010

Alicia was another special friend who was so dearly loved by all of her family and friends. Alicia was married to her best friend and husband for 54 years. Together they had 9 children, 20 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. I had the honor of taking their last family photo on December 4, 2010. It was a very special moment for me to be able to capture that moment for the entire family to cherish for many years to come. My heart also goes out to her husband and family as they mourn the loss of their best friend, wife, mother and grandmother. Over 400 family and friends came together on the evening of December 21, at Calipatria, CA, a small town in Imperial Valley, with just 1 stop light. It was so amazing to see so many come to celebrate her life and to show support to her family. Alicia was known for her compassion and love for all whom she met, and especially for her famous hand made tortillas. She will be remembered for her strength and courage in the midst of health challenges that she faced with dignity.

Lake Murray after the rain...

My friend Olivia had some more vacation time and another project for her Photography class. She suggested Lake Murray because it's such a neat place to go and explore. I had not been there yet, so I thought it would be a great place to go too and see what we could find. What we found were lots of trees and picnic table under water. After all the rain we had last week, the water levels there had not been that high in 20 years! We went about an hour before sunset, so we got some amazing photographs to document this phenomenon. I end up on my last stop after work at Trader Joe's in La Mesa and low and behold I end up meeting "Zookeeper Chad" who also happens to be one of the Grocery checkers there. After a brief conversation about pets and rescues, I find out that he also works at the SD Zoo and helped raise and handle "Frank", one of the new addidtions to the Gorillas at the San Diego Zoo. I couldn't stop saying Wow to myself all the way home! ....what are the chances??? Last week my friend Olivia texted me and wanted to get together with our Cameras since she was off from school for the week...Of course I immediately replied and said "Sounds like a great plan!" So off we went to play at Balboa Park! I felt like a kid in a candy store! The Lily pond is my favorite place to photograph. The reflections of the Lily's and the surrounding Botanical Building and grounds are spectacular to say the least! Here's a few of my favs...

Another "Carpe Diem" Day in La Jolla

Anyone who knows me well, knows I always have one ear tuned in on the latest weather. The instant I hear about high surf advisories, I have the urge to run (drive actually) to the beach and see for myself! After work, I picked up my niece Kiana and we headed to La Jolla Cove. One of my all time favorite places to shoot photo sessions or just go and watch the Sunset! Here's a few photos of the waves and some body surfers that were enjoying the waves too. I'm usually the one taking the pictures, but Kiana snuck a few photos of me taking photos without me knowing. I think there's another up and coming photographer in the family! RORY TOY MASON:: SHE'S FINALLY HERE!

This is the post I have been dreaming of posting all year! This beautiful little girl came into our world on September 30 just one day shy of her original due date. Of course we all feel she is THE most beautiful baby in the world, after you see the pictures maybe you will agree too! We got to the hospital at about 10:00 am and she was born at 2:41pm. For a first baby, everything went to smoothly and better than expected. It was a very exciting day for my little sister Wanda and brother-in-law Gus who are proud Grandparents, also Brian's mom and dad Denise and Herb who are just as proud! They will be coming in a couple of weeks to meet their beautiful little Grand-daughter as well. OK, so here are her first photos! Meet Rory...

Garrett's Football Game

It was a beautiful sunny summer day! Perfect for a few photos of Garrett and his little brother Brady before the game......but as any parent would know, things don't always turn out the way you plan it! Garrett and Brady were just about ready to have their photos taken when THIS happened.....

Plan B! Something I always have in my back pocket for times just like these! We still managed to get some great shots of Garrett and Brady minus the mud he just picked up on his nice white shirt....

Best Friends at the Beach

It was a fun day at the Del Coronado with my Niece & Nephew Krystal and Brian. They just celebrated their First Anniversary in June and of course are not only married, but also Best Friends! They are waiting for the birth of their firt child Rory on Oct 1. Congratulations Mommy and Daddy to be!

Also Best Friends from childhood are my 3 nieces Krystal, Camille and Kiana & Bianca and Monique. Here's a few pics of them having some fun on the Beach.

Jesse & Talia:: Engagement Session at La Jolla

I first met with Jesse at a Starbucks to talk about his Wedding Photography. Sadly Talia was still at work and couldn't come along. I had not met Talia yet, so when they showed up at my house the day of the Engagement photo session, my first thought was WOW! What a beautiful fiance!! I have to say Jesse and Talia are one of the sweetest couples and complement each other perfectly! We had such a great time together at La Jolla and I look forward to photographing their special Wedding Day in August!

2 Photo Sessions with a kitten in "tow"...It can be done!

On May 6, I was leaving work at RCP in Lemon Grove and heard that there were kittens born and abandoned in the sales yard. I immediately went to check things out! Needless to say I was quickly on my way to Pets Mart to get kitten formula for 3 newborn kittens! Sadly one didn't make it past the evening and the second died on May 8. The first 2 had severe health issues, but the 3rd who was named "Simba" by the girls I work with is very healthy and growing quickly! His eyes are finally starting to open today. What a little trooper! Of course that weekend happened to be one of the busiest ever with 2 Photo Sessions scheduled, one in Laguna Beach with Armando and Shushan and the next on Sunday morning with Cesar and Nayad at La Jolla Cove. A big thanks to both couples who were very helpful and accomodating being that I was a bit distracted taking care of this little bundle of joy! Almost 2 weeks old now and he tips the scales at 7ozs!

Meet Armando and Shushan! We met at the "Montage Resort" in Laguna Beach to take their engagement photos. This is also where Armando proposed to his beautiful fiancee Shushan! It was definitely a beautiful venue for this special occasion!

The following day on Sunday, Simba and I met with Cesar and Nayad for their photo session at La Jolla Cove. Cesar is an amazing photographer and Nayad has her own graphics company Ink Design, a talented couple and also a great couple to photograph!! It was another beautiful day!

Sofia & Adolfo:: A perfect Wedding Day! May 1, 2010

When I first met with Adolfo and Sofia to talk about their Wedding Day, I immediately knew this was a Special Couple. When I see two people come together on their Wedding Day, one of the things I love to see is that they are best friends! I spent two wonderful days with them, first on their engagement session at Balboa Park two weeks earlier and then on their Wedding Day, May 1st, 2010. I love to laugh, so I especially loved the fact that these two best friends had such a great sense of humor and it was evident that they adore each other and would do anything for each other too! Congratulations Sofia and Adolfo! It truly was a perfect Wedding Day!

Meet Izzy & Peppy!

My niece Krystal and her hubby Brian have two new kids on the block! Meet Izzy and Peppy, a brother and sister with Main Coon and Blue Russian heritage. Peppy is the sleek Blue Russian and Izzy is the fluffy little sister with all the charm that goes with it! :D Here's a few pics I took last night at their apt...

A Day at the Wild Animal Park! Always a perfect day!

On April 12, "Swazi" the matriarch female elephant gave birth to the largest baby ever born at the Wild Animal Park. He tipped the scales at 268 lbs! Compared to "Lutsandvo" who's name means "Love" in the SiSwati language, who only weighed in at about 220 lbs to mother Ndlulamitsi (en loo la Mit see) on February 14, 2010. The newest baby has not been named yet. Here are some precious moments between Moms, babies and siblings! These next few are of "Lutsandvo" ...

I always have a great time with all of my clients when we are out on their photo sessions, but with Sofia and Adolfo, it was an especially sweet time. Not only do they adore one another but they also have the best sense of humor! We spent most of the time at Balboa Park laughing and having just a great time! I really look forward to spending their Wedding Day in two weeks with this Awesome Sweet couple!! Here's just a few of my favs of the day.

Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II + PETS = LOADS OF FUN!

BORROW LENSES is a great place to look into if you want to try out a lense or anything else camera related. I have rented camera's and lenses from them and their customer service is amazing! And the best part is NO deposits required!! I have tried out the Canon 50mm f/1.2 before and it is definitely a SWEET lense! This time I decided to try out the 85mm f/1.2. I have an engagement session at Balboa Park Saturday afternoon and I am totally excited to see what it can do. I have read glowing reviews on this lense!

So I have about an hour or so of light left and my cats are all outside exploring. Can't pass up the beautiful light and trying out this lense on my pets! Here's a few of my favorite shots. I also downloaded a free 30 day trial of Alienskin Snap Art and tried it out on a few of them. This is Kit Kat my 17 year old Calico.

Spring is here! After all its April! This past weekend babies of all kinds was definitely a major theme! Starting out with Baby Cameron's first photo session at the age of 2 weeks, to Piper, Karli and Travis' beautiful 4 month old baby girl, to all the babies at the San Diego Zoo, and a few random "non baby" photos at Balboa Park. Fun with Friends at the Top of Otay Mountain!

It was a perfect afternoon spent with some friends exploring Otay Mountain. We had great weather and we were having so much fun we didn't even know there had been an earthquake until we started getting calls and texts from friends and family! The views from the top were spectacular as were ALL the flowers that were in bloom all along the way! We had a few extra passengers who enjoyed the day with us too! Bella, Eric and Alena's little poodle mix and Bailey, Shaun and Sarah's Shiba Inu. A perfect day!!
